Preethi's Photo

Hi, I'm Preethi

I'm a first-generation South Indian American artist, and I paint the women I wanted to see growing up — vibrant, present, and deeply rooted in their culture.

What started as a personal search for modern South Asian art for my own home became something much bigger: a body of work for everyone who's ever looked at the walls around them and felt unseen.

Growing up as a first-generation South Indian American, I lived in two worlds and noticed early on that the art around me rarely reflected what that beautiful in-between felt like.

Painting found me during COVID. I had a wall to fill, and I wanted something that felt truly like me to fill it. I wanted something that showed South Asian women the way I've always known them: joyful, vibrant, and fully alive. Dancing Girl was the piece where I first felt like I'd really poured myself onto a canvas, and I've been painting ever since.

Each piece I create is part of an ongoing journey of reconnecting with a heritage I'm continually learning. I balance a full-time career in tech with a painting practice that is deliberate, immersive, and deeply personal. Whether I'm working on a wedding portrait, a burst of sunflowers, or something more quiet and introspective, every painting is a little bit of research, memory, imagination, and love.

I'm so glad you're here.
